My Story
They say “Grief is love with nowhere to go.” After losing my husband to cancer just a month before the Covid lockdown, my world came to a standstill. The business we had built together had to temporarily close due to restrictions, and I suddenly found myself alone for weeks at a time.
I made a conscious decision not to collapse under the weight of grief—I couldn’t afford to let it win. One day, I gathered whatever paints I could find in the house and began transforming my surroundings. (My husband would have had a fit if he had seen me painting the furniture!) The kitchen was given a new life, the patio was refreshed, and before long, creativity became my way forward.
When lockdowns began to ease—and after an unfortunate tumble off a ladder while repainting the entrance hall—I decided it was time to explore safer hobbies. That’s when I discovered crafting. It started with vinyl stickers and handmade birthday cards, then grew into t-shirts, personalized gifts, and more.
Over the past five years, crafting has become not only a passion but also a source of joy for my family and others. Every Christmas and birthday, my loved ones received homemade, personalized gifts. In 2021, Christmas baubles became the highlight of my December. From there, small orders started trickling in—eventually leading to larger projects, like producing 300 custom t-shirts for a shop in KZN.
What began as a way to heal has now grown into a creative journey I cherish every day. Through my work, I hope to share a little beauty, a touch of joy, and a whole lot of love.
